- Time-to-detect (TTD) and time-to-contain (TTC) as primary metrics
- Automated enrichment (asset context, identity, vulnerability exposure)

- Do you have mission-specific datasets, not just generic imagery or open-source corpora?
- Can you run repeatable evaluations (same tests, same metrics) before every deployment?
- Do you maintain a golden test set that reflects contested conditions (jamming, weather, deception)?
- Do you have a defined authority model (who approves model updates, who approves autonomous actions)?
- Can systems operate at the edge with limited bandwidth and compute?
- Is your architecture modular (sensors/models/tools can be swapped without re-certifying everything)?

- Treat “model updates” like “weapons software changes”: controlled, tested, and auditable.
- Invest in AI-ready networks and edge compute, because fragile connectivity breaks most ambitious autonomy concepts.
