2) Knowledge Manager (the owner of inputs)
Answer first: The Knowledge Manager ensures the AI agent is grounded in accurate, structured, current information.
AI support doesn’t fail because models are “dumb.” It fails because inputs are messy:
- Outdated policies
- Conflicting help articles
- Product terminology drift
- Tribal knowledge living in Slack
- Edge cases not documented
A Knowledge Manager treats content as operational infrastructure.
Day-to-day responsibilities:

These are the questions I’d put on a whiteboard before you hire or reshuffle:
- Which 10 intents make up most of our volume, and how many can AI resolve with high confidence?
- Where does the AI fail today: knowledge gaps, unclear policy, missing actions, or tone/handoffs?
- Who owns AI quality week to week? If the answer is “everyone,” it’s actually no one.
- Do we have a safe path for AI to take actions, with approvals where needed?
- Are we measuring outcomes (resolution, CSAT, accuracy) or just throughput (volume, AHT)?
